Midface Lift

What Is a Midface Lift?

Not the skin alone, but the deep tissues.

The midface lift is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting the signs of ageing in the cheeks, cheekbones and under-eye area that make up the middle part of the face. The aim is not merely to tighten the skin but to move the deep tissues that have shifted downwards with age back upwards.

How is it performed?

There are different techniques depending on the surgeon's preference:

  • Through a lower eyelid incision (transblepharoplasty approach)
  • Endoscopically through small incisions in the temple area
  • Sometimes together with a facelift

The midface tissues are released and suspended upwards.

What is the difference from an endoscopic temporal lift?

  • A temporal lift acts mainly on the outer part of the brow and the corner of the eye.
  • A midface lift acts mainly on the cheek and under-eye area.
  • In many patients the two procedures can be performed together, providing a more balanced rejuvenation of the upper and middle face.

Who may it be suitable for?

  • People between the ages of 35 and 60 whose cheek descent has become pronounced.
  • Those with hollowing at the junction of the under-eye and the cheek.
  • People who look aged not from the neck or jawline but particularly from the midface.

Recovery process

  • Swelling and bruising can be expected in the first 1-2 weeks.
  • Return to social life is generally within 2-3 weeks.
  • It may take a few months for the results to settle completely.
Core Gains

The measurable distinctions of the midface lift.

The aim is to correct the signs of ageing in the cheeks, cheekbones and under-eye area; the goal is not merely to tighten the skin but to move the deep tissues back upwards.

— 01

Natural cheekbone volume

The flattening and volume loss of the cheekbones is addressed by moving the downwardly displaced deep tissues back upwards.

— 02

Tear trough correction

The pronounced hollow between the under-eye and the cheek can be softened by moving the underlying tissue upwards.

— 03

Softening of the nasolabial folds

The depth of the lines running from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth can be reduced by repositioning the cheek upwards.

— 04

Combination with a temporal / facelift

In many patients it can be performed together with an endoscopic temporal lift, providing a more balanced rejuvenation of the upper and middle face. It is sometimes planned together with a facelift.
