Non-Surgical Aesthetics

Thread Lifting

Facial thread lifting is one of the non-surgical methods of facial rejuvenation. Thanks to the special threads placed under the skin, sagging tissues are supported upwards, the oval of the face is defined and a younger appearance is achieved. The procedure also stimulates the skin's natural collagen production, helping to improve skin quality over time.

Longevity
1–5 years depending on the thread type

In Which Areas Is Thread Lifting Applied?

  • The cheek and midface area
  • The jawline
  • The double chin and neck area
  • Brow lifting
  • The nasolabial region (nose-to-lip lines)
  • Marionette lines (sagging at the corners of the mouth)

Who Is It Suitable For?

Thread lifting is particularly suitable for people between the ages of 30 and 60 with mild to moderate facial sagging. In patients with advanced excess skin, surgical facelift procedures may give a more effective result.

Is Thread Lifting a Permanent Procedure?

No. The great majority of the modern thread lifting methods used today have a temporary effect. Even when the threads dissolve over time, the collagen network they create continues to support the skin for a while longer. However, because the ageing process continues, the treatment can be repeated at certain intervals in order to maintain the results.

Thread Types and Longevity

Thread types and how long they last.

Longevity varies according to age, skin structure, weight changes and lifestyle.

i

Lasting 1 year — PDO (Polydioxanone)

Mild and moderate sagging · most frequently chosen
These are the most widely used dissolvable threads today. They are absorbed by the body within 4–6 months; however, even after the thread itself has dissolved, thanks to the collagen support built around it the results extend to 12 months, and in some cases up to 18 months. They are preferred for mild to moderate sagging. There are three main varieties: Mono threads increase collagen production but have a limited lifting effect; Cog (barbed) threads hold the tissue physically and create a lifting effect; Screw threads provide volume support and skin tightening.
ii

Lasting 2–3 years — PLLA & PCL

Moderate sagging
Threads containing PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) and PCL (Polycaprolactone) remain under the skin for longer than classic PDO threads. The lifting effect extends to 18–24 months and, in some cases, up to 2–3 years. They are preferred for patients with moderate facial sagging who want their results to be maintained for longer.
iii

Lasting 3–5 years — Silicone cone / Polyester supported

Strong mechanical support · in selected patients
They provide longer-lasting mechanical support than dissolvable threads. In the appropriate patient group a longevity of 3–5 years can be achieved. Unlike classic PDO threads, they are used in cases where a stronger lift is the aim. The duration may vary according to age, skin structure, weight change and lifestyle.
